2 Samuel 24:24 meaning

In moments of deep humility and reflection, David recognized the weight of his sin in conducting a census of the Israelites, motivated by pride. Following a grave punishment that resulted in the death of 70,000 people, David was instructed by the prophet Gad to build an altar to the Lord on Araunah's threshing floor. In an act of integrity and honor, David insisted on purchasing the threshing floor, stating he would not offer to the Lord that which cost him nothing. This refusal underscores a critical spiritual principle: true worship and sacrifices must come at a personal cost.
