Ephesians 2:20 meaning

The concept of God's household, as presented in this verse, emphasizes the importance of a solid foundation on which the Church is structured. Paul uses the metaphor of a building to illustrate how the faithful—comprising both Jews and Gentiles—are united under a common faith. This passage highlights that their unity is built upon the teachings and revelations received through the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ serving as the cornerstone. This imagery is profoundly meaningful especially considering the cultural backdrop; the Ephesians valued their grand temple dedicated to Artemis, which was a source of national pride. However, Paul asserts that the Church surpasses any earthly structure, as it is now where God dwells among His people.
