Mark 9:19 meaning

In this passage, we witness a poignant moment of desperation and faith. A father brings his son, afflicted by a deadly spirit, to Jesus, hoping for healing. However, with Jesus temporarily away, the disciples attempt the healing but fail miserably, which leads to a confrontation with the scribes and a crowd that is uncertain. Amidst this turmoil, Jesus expresses His exasperation toward what He calls an "unbelieving generation," highlighting the pervasive lack of faith—not only of the crowd but also potentially of His own disciples.
