1 Corinthians 13:11 meaning

In discussing spiritual maturity, the Apostle Paul reflects on the nature of love and how it transcends the temporary gifts of knowledge and prophecy cherished by the Corinthian church. He contrasts the mindset of children, who focus on fleeting matters, with that of mature adults, who grasp the importance of eternal values. This verse emphasizes our present limitations in understanding and knowledge, indicating that what we currently possess is but a fragment of the fullness that awaits us in Christ.

In 1 Corinthians 13:11, Paul urges believers to recognize the need to put away childish preoccupations and align themselves with the true essence of spiritual growth—love. As he underscores throughout this chapter, love is not merely an emotion but the defining characteristic of a true Christian life. It is the enduring quality that will remain, even when other gifts pass away, reminding us that the essence of Christianity is found not in the temporary but in the everlasting nature of love itself.

Paul did not take any money from them. He sarcastically asks for their forgiveness for never exploiting them financially.
