The LORD summarizes what should be included in the ordination ceremony of the priests. Animals for sacrifice, unleavened food, and oil should be brought to the ritual.
In chapter 29, the LORD now shifts from describing the clothing of the priests in chapter 28 to their ordination in their role as His dedicated servants. This ordination was to be an elaborate ceremony so that all of Israel would be sure that Aaron and his sons were chosen by the LORD to be priests.
To prepare for the ordination ceremony, the LORD summarized what Moses was to do to them to consecrate them to minister as priests to Me. To consecrate was to set apart for special service. The special service was for them to minister as priests. Their ministry was to God, as God states they were to minister as priests to Me. Moses was commanded to Take one young bull and two rams without blemish. These animals were to be sacrificed during the ceremony. He was also to take unleavened bread and unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers spread with oil, which were to be made of fine wheat flour. He then was to put them in one basket.
Finally, he was to present them in the basket along with the bull and the two rams. All of these items were going to be presented as offerings to the LORD when Aaron and his sons were ordained into the priesthood. Parts of these offerings were also going to be in the communal meal. Remember that unleavened bread was associated with the Passover celebration (Exodus 12:8, 15, 17).
