Proverbs 18:15 meaning

Wise people remain teachable, using both mind and ear to keep pursuing knowledge.

The hunger of the wise is described in Proverbs 18:15: The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge (v. 15). Wisdom is not static. It keeps learning.

The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge because prudence is teachable. The wise know that they do not already possess all the understanding they need. They therefore remain open, attentive, and willing to grow.

Likewise, the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Wisdom listens. It does not merely wait for opportunities to speak. This proverb reveals the posture of a wise life: an eager readiness to receive what is true, useful, and corrective.
