Jonah
The book of Jonah tells the story of the prophet Jonah, who is called by God to deliver a message of repentance to the city of Nineveh, a major Assyrian city known for its wickedness. Jonah initially attempts to flee by ship from God’s command, but ends up in the belly of a great fish for three days and nights before being miraculously released. He then obeys God’s directive and delivers the message to Nineveh, where the people and the king heed the warning and repent. This angers Jonah, but God defends His compassion on the people of Nineveh.
