Proverbs 11:20 meaning

God rejects the perverse in heart but delights in those who walk with integrity.

In Proverbs 11:20, Solomon says, The perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but the blameless in their walk are His delight (v. 20). God’s concern reaches beneath behavior to the heart. What He evaluates is not outward performance alone, but the inner posture from which life flows.

The perverse in heart are twisted inwardly. Their will and affections are bent away from truth. This inward distortion becomes outward wickedness over time, because the heart is the center from which intentions and actions arise. Proverbs often treats the heart as the wellspring of one’s life.

By contrast, the blameless in their walk are God’s delight. Their life direction fits His design. They are sincere, upright, and faithful in their manner of living. It is a beautiful thought that God does not merely tolerate such a life; He delights in it.
