Proverbs 28:25 meaning

Greedy arrogance produces strife, while trust in the LORD produces prosperity.

Two interior postures are set against two public results in Proverbs 28:25An arrogant man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper (v. 25). These two postures yield two results.

An arrogant man stirs up strife. The Hebrew of arrogant here suggests greedy, grasping, expansive. Such a man starts conflicts because his appetite makes him push against his neighbors. He is constantly reaching for more, and his reach generates contention.

He who trusts in the LORD will prosper. The man who trusts the LORD does not need to grasp. His provision comes from the LORD, not from his own grasping. He prospers without producing strife. This can be compared to Matthew 6:33: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Trust in the LORD produces a posture that generates peace rather than strife.
