Judges
The book of Judges depicts a tumultuous period in Israel’s history characterized by a cycle of apostasy, oppression, and deliverance. After Joshua’s leadership, a series of judges, including Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Samson and others, rose to lead the Israelites against their enemies, often in response to their disobedience and idolatry. The book underscores the religious waywardness of the Israelites, resulting in recurrent foreign oppression, but also highlights divine intervention and God’s mercy in raising up leaders to rescue His people.
