Nehemiah
The book of Nehemiah continues the narrative of the Jewish exiles’ return to Jerusalem from Babylon, with a focus on the rebuilding of the city walls. Nehemiah, a trusted official in the Persian court, receives permission from King Artaxerxes to lead an expedition to Jerusalem to address the city’s deteriorated defenses. He successfully motivates the people to rebuild the walls, facing opposition from neighboring nations and internal challenges. Alongside this, Nehemiah promotes spiritual renewal and adherence to the Law of Moses among the returned exiles.
