Cyprus

Cyprus is shown here as a large island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, located west of Syria and north of Israel, with important cities such as Salamis on the east coast and Paphos on the west. Its position made it a natural stopping point for travel and trade between the Levant, Asia Minor, and the wider Mediterranean world. From a biblical perspective, Cyprus is significant in Acts 13, where Paul and Barnabas began the first missionary journey by sailing from Seleucia to Salamis, then traveling across the island to Paphos. The map helps show how the gospel spread through well-traveled coastal routes, beginning near Barnabas's homeland and moving outward from the eastern Mediterranean into the Gentile world.
