After the offerings of the tribes in chapter 7, the LORD then told Moses to instruct Aaron concerning the lighting of the lamps in the tabernacle. Aaron obeyed and placed the seven lamps in front of the lampstand. The lampstand’s construction was then described.

Jesus Predicts the Disciples’ Desertion: Jesus informs His disciples that they will abandon Him that very night. Peter assures Jesus that he will stick with Him even if everyone else runs away. Jesus tells Peter that he will deny him three times before dawn. Peter tells Jesus that He is wrong and assures His Lord that he is ready to die with Him. The other disciples say they are ready to die for Him also.

Matthew summarizes his account to include the three moments from Jesus’s retelling of the Passover that most stand out. During this meal, Jesus reveals how the Bread and Wine of the Seder Meal are chiefly about Himself and His role as the Messiah.

John the Baptizer answers the question posed by all of Judea and Jerusalem: he is not the Messiah. However, John the Baptizer unequivocally announces the Messiah is coming, and He will baptize with the Holy Spirit who is the down payment and assurance of salvation.

Mark now reports an oddly appareled John the Baptist actively fulfilling his Messianic forerunner role as evidenced by all the country of Judea going out to him in the wilderness, confessing their sins, and being baptized in the Jordan river.

Numbers 6:22-27 contain what many have called the "Aaronic Benediction." It is also called the "priestly prayer." It expresses the priests’ desire for the LORD to shower His people with favor. It demonstrates that the priests were to be a source of blessing for the LORD’s people.

Nahum describes Nineveh’s final destruction and uses irony to urge her to get ready for the coming siege.

The prophet Nahum draws a lesson from Assyria’s history to predict the destruction of Nineveh.

The LORD announces that He will expose Nineveh to cause her to experience shame and destruction.

The prophet Nahum pronounces judgment on Nineveh because of the ferocity of her wars and her wicked influence on other nations.

Consistent with his straightforward writing style, Mark goes directly to the point by referencing two Old Testament prophecies about the forerunner who will precede and announce the coming Messiah.

Mark, writing to the Gentiles, begins his gospel emphasizing the deity of Jesus and His role as Savior of the world.

Our heart is glad and we rejoice, not so much in earthly things or as a result of our circumstances, but because of who God is and what He will do. We can trust Him to lead us and make His will and His presence known to us, which will bring us the fullness of joy.

David is focused on the Lord and through that focus he experiences the continual presence and instruction of the Lord. His refuge in the Lord also comes through this focus.

Our situations and circumstances may seem difficult or confusing, but God is always at work in our life and we can take comfort and be at peace knowing it is God that is directing our lives.

David turns to the Lord for his safety and refuge and acknowledges that the only path to true safety is in the Lord.
