Luke 1:5-7 dates the beginning of his gospel account to the days of King Herod. There was an old, common priest at that time named Zacharias who was married to his wife Elizabeth. This couple was righteous and devout to follow the Lord’s commandments and lived by faith, but they were old and childless.

This passage encourages believers to humbly seek God’s gracious attention, trust Him for deliverance, and maintain hope that He will watch over individuals and entire communities alike.

The psalm assures readers that reverent dependence on God brings guidance, blessing, and rescue for both the present and the future.

Revelation 14:14-20 reveals that one like a son of man (Jesus) appears sitting on a cloud with a sickle and reaps a harvest from the earth. An angel having power over fire also reaps grapes and presses them in the wrath of God, which yields a wine of blood. Judgment has come.

Revelation 14:8-13 depicts two more angels who follow the first. They share the message of woe to those of “Babylon” who wear the mark of the beast, for they will receive God’s wrath. But a voice from heaven offers encouragement to the faithful witnesses, reminding them to continue to keep God’s commandments.

Revelation 14:6-7 describes how an angel flies through the sky all over the earth, preaching a good message from God. This message is for the earth to fear God and give Him glory. The time for judgment has come.

Revelation 14:1-5 shows that the one hundred and forty-four thousand whom God sealed in Revelation 7 are now seen standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb. Blameless and pure and utterly faithful to Jesus the Lamb, they were purchased as the first fruits unto God. They sing a new song of praise in a choir of thunderous tones and beautiful melodies. No one else can learn this song but the one hundred and forty-four thousand.

Esau’s descendants established numerous structured tribes in the land of Edom, preparing the way for their future role in biblical history.

Genesis 36:31-39 highlights the structured kingdoms of Edom, demonstrating that God’s sovereign design spans all nations and peoples, weaving their stories into the tapestry of His overarching plan, whether or not they appear in the later narrative of Israel.

The LORD promises to lift up Joshua through the miracle of crossing the Jordan River, so that the Israelites will see he is a leader equal to Moses. God also gives him instructions for the priests. Joshua then urges the Israelites to hear God’s words to understand that He will be with them, and will grant them victory over all their enemies.

Genesis 36:20-30 emphasizes the critical role of the Horite inhabitants of Seir, displaying their expanded family lines and recognized chiefs, and illustrating God’s sovereign orchestration of diverse peoples in the land of Edom.

God is unfailingly good and righteous, ready to lead humble believers on a path defined by love, truth, and merciful forgiveness.

David calls upon God for guidance, mercy, and forgiveness, acknowledging that these blessings come from God’s enduring faithfulness rather than his own worthiness.

This psalm teaches us that genuine security and honor emerge from wholehearted trust in God that leads away from shame and toward His steadfast protection.

These verses remind believers to welcome God’s rule and celebrate His victory with confident hearts.

Esau’s chiefs in Edom built a strong network of leaders who governed clans in a historically pivotal region of the ancient Near East.

Genesis 36:9-14 collectively reveals how Esau’s family branches multiplied across different wives, concubines, and generations, each forming distinct tribal entities in the mountainous region of Seir while foreshadowing significant historical interactions with Israel.

God sovereignly rules over all creation, desires purity from His worshipers, and blesses those who earnestly seek Him.

In light of the fact that God has anointed His Son to rule over the earth, the human authorities would be wise to heed this warning and worship God, rather than rebel against Him. It is to our benefit to submit to God, rather than resist Him. For those who trust in Jesus and bow their lives to Him, we will avoid suffering and loss, and will instead experience blessing and peace from Him.

God’s anointed ruler tells of how God decreed Him as the authority over the earth. God adopted this Anointed person to be His Son, the One who will rule over the earth as a reward from God. This Anointed Son, Jesus, will rule over the earth with complete authority. Nothing will be in rebellion against Him when He takes His earthly throne.
